Kathryn focuses on creating an empowering, person-first, and solution-focused space for clients. She focuses on collaborative and creative ways to conduct therapy, which might look different than traditional talk therapy. Kathryn has incorporated therapeutic games, puzzles, and art to address needs and achieve goals in a personalized way to address individual needs. She has experience working with teens, adults, families, and caregivers. She mainly utilizes components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into her work. Her approach to empowerment includes fostering positive self-image to work towards identifying their strengths, building resiliency, and building confidence towards achieving their goals. Claire is dedicated to creating a supportive and affirming environment for all of her clients. Her passion lies in working with neurodivergent individuals and those within the LGBTQIA+ community. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques tailored to meet clients' unique needs and goals. Her strength-based approach focuses on inherent abilities and resources to foster growth and resilience. Claire provides psychotherapy and cognitive rehabilitation services in our downtown Chicago office under the supervision of Lydia Wardin, PhD, one of our CCW licensed clinical neuropsychologists.

Emily Assef

Emily works with clients navigating a variety of mental health challenges and the social obstacles that accompany them. As a queer clinician, Emily believes it is especially important for those who are marginalized by society to have access to the mental health care they desire. We are pleased she brings this mindset to work with our neurologically marginalized clients at CCW. Her “growth mindset” approach to therapy aims to help clients find avenues for positive change in light of incredible challenges while holding the reality that healing is rarely linear. Emily is completing her Master’s in Social Work degree at the University of Chicago and is supervised by Marie Stein, LCSW, our CCW Clinical Director.

Brandy provides clinical counseling services to a broad spectrum of clients dealing with mental health challenges. She uses experience and her understanding of therapy models to assist individuals who have been disregarded, abused, and silenced by society. She believes a good therapeutic relationship includes trust, authenticity, and freedom to effect change. Her ethical standards are based on social justice, human dignity and worth, human relationships, integrity, and competence. Although she believes that this can be accomplished in different ways for different people, the purpose remains the same, and that is assisting people in achieving their goals through solving problems from many angles using theories to comprehend better the complexities of human behavior in settings that impact people's views of their lives and behaviors.

Clarissa is a bilingual, first-generation social worker with several years of clinical and leadership experience. Her comprehensive and strengths-based approach incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation therapy, art therapy, task-centered, and other evidence-based modalities to treat patients who struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, and dual diagnoses. Empathy, cultural humility, and ethics guide her work with patients, and she believes that feedback from the patient is important in cultivating a safe therapeutic environment.

Eleanor provides psychotherapy and cognitive rehabilitation virtually and in the downtown Chicago location. She aims to foster a safe and supportive environment, and works alongside clients to find creative ways to heal and cope with challenges in life. Trained in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, she takes a collaborative approach, building upon clients’ strengths, resources, and skills to work with clients on accomplishing their goals. She has extensive experience working with people affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias, including those with various forms of cognitive impairment and care partners.

Amber Lee, PhD

Dr. Amber Lee provides neuropsychological assessment in our Downtown Chicago office. She works with patients who present with various neurological, medical, and/or psychiatric conditions, such as dementia, epilepsy, and ADHD. She also helps patients regain confidence and autonomy through cognitive rehabilitation.
